If you are an Adsense publisher there is big news for you. Google has introduced desktop anchor ads to help monetize desktop traffic.
These advertisements are banners 728×90 that display at the side of a user’s desktop screen.
What is Anchor Ad?
Anchor ad display at the top or bottom of the screen as the user scroll. Google first launch anchor ads. Usually, these ads display at the bottom of the desktop screen. However, these ads are easily rejected. Google first launched it on Adsense in 2013.
How do Anchor Ads like?
Following are the two examples of anchor ads:

2. Anchor ad display at the bottom of the screen
How can we enable anchor ads?
In the new Adsense update July 19th 2021, Google has enabled Adsense anchor ads. It will soon start to display on a wider screen such as a desktop. If you have already enabled anchors for your cell phone users, the AdSense account will allow this option very start to soon.
How can we disable anchor ads?
If publishers want to disable the anchor ads, this can be made by modifying the ad code.
Google says that “If you don’t want to display anchors on desktop screens, you can switch off this option using the new desktop screen manipulate in your auto advertisements settings.”
Follow these steps to disable anchor ads through your AdSense account
- Go to Ads -> Overview
- Search the bottom listing of the website
- Select Edit from -> right sidebar
- Ad formats select
- Scroll down to locate “anchor advertisements settings”
- Click on -> “wide display settings”
- Select option -> “disable”
- To adjust advertisement settings -> Select “Apply to site”
